PROMOTION POLICY
Pre School & PrePrimary
· Evaluation and assessment is a continuous process which is done on the basis of overall performance.
· The assessment is carried out in all domains of development i.e. physical, social, and cognitive and creativity.
· The skills and competencies, verbal interactions as well as behavior are assessed. Age appropriate activities at the learning centers and activity sheets are given regularly to check the child’s abilities.
· The assessment is done periodically for 3 cycles in an academic year. There is no formal examination.
All the children are promoted to the next class.
Classes I, II & III
· Evaluation of achievement of students shall be made through a series of assessment administered during the academic year.
· Assessment including Activities,Projects, Cycle tests and class performance shall be conducted in four terms during the session.
· Overall performance to be decided on the basis of achievement in the scholastic and co scholastic areas.
· Minimum qualifying grade is D in all the subjects under scholastic & Co- scholastic domain.
Classes - IV& V
· A child needs to have a minimum Attendance of 75% to be considered for promotion.
· Case of students failing in any subject to be discussed with the Principal.
· Merit Certificates to be awarded for overall academic performance. Only those placed in A+ Category, in each class to be considered.
· Certificate of Merit is to be given to students excelling in Art, Physical Education, Computers, Dance, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music and Yoga. Certificate of Excellence is also awarded to the Best Reader of the Department. 10 students from each class (IV & V) getcertificate for each activity.
· Students with 100% attendance will be awarded Commendation Certificate in acknowledgement of this regularity.
Classes VI to VIII
· Evaluation of achievement of students shall be made through a series of assessment administered during the academic year.
· In First Term (Periodic Test 1 and Half Yearly Exam) & in Second Term (Periodic Test 2 and Annual Exam) shall beheld during the session.
· Overall performance to be decided on the basis of achievement in the Scholastic areas.
· Minimum qualifying Grade is D in all the subjects under Scholastic domain.
· The students who secure E1 / E2 (Less Than 33%) grade in a subject may have to appear for an improvement exam or will be passed with grace marks, 15 marks in total and not more than 8 marks in anyone subject. This will be at the sole discretion of the Principal.
Class IX
· Student to have minimum 75% attendance to sit for Annual Examination.
· Student must secure at least 33% in Annual Examination and Internal Assessment separately in each subject for fulfilling the pass criteria.
· In case the student secures less than 33%in two or more subjects, he/she will not be promoted to the next class.
· In case the student secures less than 33%in one subject, he/she will be eligible for Compartment exam in that subject.
· In case the student secures less than 33%in the Compartment exam, he/she will not be promoted to the next class.
OTHER FEATURES:
1. Attendance:
· 15% shortage in attendance can be condoned in Medical cases (to be validated with Medical certificate).
· Case of a candidate with attendance less than 60% shall be put up to the Principal for condonation.
· If a student fails to appear for Annual Examination on medical grounds /on Duty, he/she shall give his/her exam along with compartment exam.
2. Student must obtain minimum ‘D’ grade in Co Scholastic and Discipline Areas for promotion to next class.
3. The school will cancel the examination of a student and award zero marks, if the student is caught using electronic gadgets or any other unfair means during the examination.
4. No change of subject will be permitted in Class X.
SENIOR SECONDARY DEPARTMENT
CLASS XI
Evaluation of achievement of students shall be made through a series of test administration during the academic year .two cycle test, half yearly examination and a comprehensive examination shall be held at the end of academic year.
ATTENDANCE;
1. Students must have 75% attendance to appear for the comprehensive examination.
· 15% shortage in attendance can be condoned on the account of medical ground (to be validated with medical certificate) by the principal.
· If the students fail to appear for comprehensive examination due to medical ground, he /she shall give his/herexam along with compartment examination.
· If the student has missed any examination(except on duty cases, medical cases and new admission cases), he /she shall be awarded zero and there shall be retest.
· if the student has missed any examination on account of being ;-
I. on duty from the school, or
II. medical emergency like serious injury or contagious sickness, or
III. new admission
PROMOTION;-
1. Students must obtain minimum ‘D’ Grade in SUPW to be eligible for promotion.
2. Student must secure at least 33% in all subjects individually and in aggregate, in theory as well as practical subjects/projects separately.
3. The relative weight age of the marks in the test for each examination shall be as under :-
a) First cycle examination 10%
b) Second cycle examination 10%
c) Half yearly examination 30%
d) comprehensive examination 50%
4. In case the student secures less than 33% in more than one subject,he/she shall be detained in the same class. No change of subject will be permitted in class XII.
5. In case the students secure less than 33%, in one subject, he / she shall be eligible for the compartment examination in that subject.
6. In case the student secures less than 33%, in the compartment examination,he/ she shall be detained in the same class. No change of subject will be permitted in class XII.
The school reserves the right to cancel the examination of a student and award zero marks. If the student is caught using electronic device or any other unfair means during the examination.
